VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton women's soccer (7-5-2, 2-2 America East) welcomes UMass Lowell (3-6-4, 1-1-1 AE) to the Bearcats Sports Complex on Sunday for a 1 p.m. America East matchup.
On Thursday, Binghamton surrendered a season-high four goals (on four shots on goal) and suffered a 4-0 setback at league-leading Stony Brook. The Seawolves scored twice in each half and despite owning a 12-10 shots margin, BU couldn't break through. The four goals allowed were more than BU had allowed in its previous eight games combined.
Senior forward
Kayla Saager leads the team with nine goals and 22 points. Sophomore forward
Genna Michitti has two goals and five points and junior forward
Ryan Reilly has three assists and five points. Freshman keeper
Haylee Poltorak owns a 0.85 goals against average and a 79.2 save percentage.Â
The team now plays three of its final four regular season games at home, where the Bearcats are 6-0 and have outscored opponents 10-0.  Â
The River Hawks are coming off a scoreless draw with New Hampshire on Thursday. Before that, UML beat Albany 2-1 and lost at Hartford, 4-2. Lowell has 13 freshmen on its roster and also boasts players from five different countries. Graduate student Rachel Morrier leads the team with six goals and 16 points. Freshman midfielder Emily Nelson has four goals. Senior keeper Julia Schneider has made 54 saves this season, including six in Thursday's shutout against UNH.
After posting six ties last season, UML has four more this season, so the team is well versed in the overtime setting.
Binghamton leads the all-time series 5-1-1, although the teams are even in their last three matchups (1-1-1). Last October in Vestal, BU peppered UML with 24 shots and nine corner kicks but needed a
Kayla Saager goal in the 79th minute to offset a first-half visitor penalty kick and gain a 1-1 draw.Â
