Volleyball drops match to UNH

Bearcats fall to Wildcats 3-1

VESTAL, N.Y. - The Binghamton volleyball team (4-13, 2-2 AE) was defeated by New Hampshire (8-11, 4-1 AE) 3-1.

The Wildcats won the first set 25-16, the Bearcats won the second 25-19 and UNH won the final two sets 25-16 and 25-20. Gaby Alicea lead Binghamton with 13 kills, 11 digs and four blocks. Samantha Gioiosa tied her career-high with 25 digs. Kiara Adams posted 31 assists.

Both teams battled point-for-point until UNH rallied to an 18-14 lead. The Wildcats scored their final three points on three straight kills to take a 1-0 lead in the match.

The Bearcats jumped out to a 17 -13 lead in the second set. Binghamton increased their lead to 23-18 and scored their next two points on two New Hampshire errors.

The Wildcats controlled the third and fourth set to win 25-16 and 25-20 and win the match 4-1.

Binghamton is back in action this Friday when they travel to first seeded Stony Brook. They will finish the weekend at Hartford on Sunday.
