Men’s lacrosse dominates Lafayette 15-6

McAndrew nets career high four goals, Carbone makes 14 saves

EASTON, PA. - The Binghamton men's lacrosse team (3-8, 0-2 AE) defeated Lafayette (2-8) 15-6 at Fisher Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Thomas McAndrew netted a career-high four goals and eight other Bearcats found the back of the net in the victory. Thomas Galgano picked up four ground balls and caused three turnovers while Kevin Carbone made 14 saves in the net.

"I thought we put together a good game both offensively and defensively," said head coach Kevin McKeown. "We had some early stops that led to goals that we were able to build off. Kevin Carbone was seeing the ball well and shut the door on some good opporunitites they had."

Binghamton scored the first eight goals of the game, shutting Lafayette out for 29 minutes. Joe Licata scored back-to-back goals to start the game. Joe Grossi netted one of his own before McAndrew scored two of his four goals to increase the Binghamton lead to 5-0. William Talbott-Shere got in on the action next, scoring an unassisted goal with 8:40 remaining in the first half. McAndrew scored his third goal at 7:04 and Stephen Petrelli found the back of the net with 4:52 left in the third period. Lafayette scored their lone goal of the first half with 11 seconds remaining.

The Leopards scored two quick goals to start the second half but Binghamton answered, scoring five straight. Jon Perotto netted a goal at 6:58 and McAndrew scored his fourth of the day less than a minute later. Sal Ienna scored his first career goal with 6:11 remaining and then T.J. Tiernan scored back-to-back goals to increase the Binghamton lead to 13-3.

Lafayette scored three goals in the fourth period while Jackson Rieger netted two for Binghamton. Reiger scored on a pass from Sam Brown at 3:34 and with 30 seconds remaining on a pass from Ryan Winkoff to give the Bearcats' a 15-6 victory.

Binghamton outshot Lafayette 47-32. The Leopards picked up 33 ground balls compared to the Bearcats' 32.

Binghamton is back in action next Saturday at Hartford. The America East game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start.
