Baseball vs. Bucknell postponed

| By:

Bearcats and Bison will reschedule to Wednesday afternoon in Lewisburg, Pa.

VESTAL, N.Y. - Two conference preseason favorites will wait another day to square off as Binghamton baseball's home game against Bucknell (7-19) for Tuesday has been postponed due to rain. The teams will now meet at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in Lewisburg, Pa. with Bucknell taking over the host role.

The Bearcats (5-15) dropped two of three at UMBC over the weekend and are looking to steady themselves as America East play gets into full swing. The team is hitting .229 and has a pitching ERA of 5.86. The Bearcats are now 40% through the regular season (30 games remaining).

Junior right fielder Anthony Meduri continues to pace the offense with a .362 average and 12 RBI — both team-highs. Senior catcher Jason Agresti has nine doubles, 11 RBI and a team-best .414 on-base percentage.

The pitching staff has been anchored by three underclassmen out of the bullpen. Sophomore Ben Anderson has allowed just four earned runs in 16.0 innings, classmate Jake Miller has 17 strikeouts in 19.0 innings and freshman Reid VanScoter has a team-best 4.5/1 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

Senior reliever Joe Orlando (0-1, 1 save) gets the start against Bucknell. It will be Orlando's first start of the season and just his fourth career start.

The Bison were the preseason favorite to win the Patriot League but have been a bit sluggish out of the gate, much like the Bearcats. The team dropped 11 of its first 14 games, although three were against No. 4 Arkansas to open the season. Bucknell is batting .254 and its pitchers have a 6.62 ERA. Over the weekend, the Bison won two of three at Army to move their Patriot League mark to 4-7.

Sophomore second baseman Evan Madigan leads the team with a .342 average. Senior shortstop and Preseason All-Patriot League selection Luke Johnson is hitting .337 with 16 RBI. Sophomore outfielder JohnPaul Bell leads the team with four home runs and 18 RBI. Freshman right-hander Nicholas Sadd (0-0, 8.10 ERA) gets the start today.

The team returns 24 letterwinners, six position starters and three weekend pitchers from a 21-win team that reached the Patriot League championship game in 2017.

Binghamton leads the all-time series 7-6. Last season in Lewisburg, BU broke out the bats in a 12-0 win.
