Volleyball falls in two matches Friday

The Bearcats drop matches to Wyoming and Murray State

LARAMIE, WY. - The Binghamton volleyball team (0-8) dropped a pair of matches at the Wyoming Invitational on Friday. The Bearcats were defeated by hosts, Wyoming, 3-0 on Friday afternoon and then lost to Murray State in straight sets.

The Cowgirls (6-1) got out to an early lead in all three sets and didn't give the Bearcats a chance to a fight back. Wyoming took the first set 25-9, the second 25-15 and the final set 25-12.

Gaby Alicea lead the Bearcats with 9.5 points on nine kills and six digs. Samantha Gioiosa recorded nine digs while Erin Shultz posted 8 kills.

In the second match of the day, Murray State (5-3) defeated Binghamton in three sets. The Racers came out strong in the first set and claimed an early lead. Murray State held on and won the set 25-15.

In the second set, the Racers once again came out firing and put Binghamton away 25-12.

Binghamton was able to get an early lead in the third set, but their efforts fell short when Murray State battled back to win the set 25-21 and take the match 3-0.

Shultz lead the charge for the Bearcats with nine points on nine kills. Alicea added 8 kills while Kiara Adams recorded 20 assists.

Binghamton is back in action tomorrow at noon when they take on Arizona State in the final match of the Wyoming Invitational.
