Volleyball falls at New Hampshire

Haworth, Ulate register 10 kills apiece

The Binghamton University volleyball team dropped a road contest Friday evening against New Hampshire in three sets. The Wildcats prevailed in two tightly contested frames before running away with the third set.

Audrey Haworth and Francela Ulate led the way with 10 kills apiece for the Bearcats. Haworth and Kim Lavender had nine digs to lead the team. Elis Gadelha chipped in with four kills and a block.

The opening set remained close the entire way, with little edge for either side throughout. Two big points highlighted by Gadelha brought the narrow deficit to one point at 24-23, but a service error gave the first frame to New Hampshire.

The second set was much of the same, with Binghamton leading early at 5-4 and 9-8. The score remained close, until a strong stretch by the Wildcats gave them a cushion at 20-14.

Four straight points by the Bearcats made this one close, but New Hampshire pulled away and won the set on a Bearcat attack error.

The Wildcats pulled away in the third set, winning 25-11. They opened a 19-5 advantage and went on to victory 12 points later.

Binghamton returns to Vestal prior to the team's next matchup at Albany on Friday, October 18. Following that matchup they will head to Baltimore two days later to take on UMBC.
