The Binghamton volleyball team fell to Hartford Sunday afternoon in three sets. The Bearcats were unable to spoil the Hawks' senior day and could never really get it going in the 25-15, 25-15, 25-6 defeat.
Â
Victoria Keghlian provided a spark for Binghamton, finishing with eight kills on a .500 hitting percentage.
Tyra Wilson and
Audrey Haworth each chipped in with four kills apiece.
Â
Defensively, four Bearcats registered two blocks and
Francela Ulate had five digs.
Â
In the first set, the Bearcats remained within striking distance early, with kills by Haworth and
Anna Sprys providing a surge. Trailing 14-11 following an Ulate service ace, Hartford went on to score 11 of the final 15 points in the frame, capping off the run with two Bearcat attack errors and a bad set.
Â
The second set saw Keghlian notch the first point, but five straight Hawk points gave them momentum. Hartford extended the advantage further, but the Bearcats showed fight in the middle portion of the frame, with a block by
Kiara Adams and
Elis Gadelha cutting it to 17-12. The Hawks would score eight of the final 11 points, including the final four to take a commanding edge.
Â
Hartford ran away with the final set, taking an 11-2 lead and completing the win with a 25-6 final frame. Wilson, Gadelha and Keghlian all added a kill to round out the box score.
Â
The Bearcats return home Friday to take on New Hampshire. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
