BU has won five of last six, finishes off Georgia road trip with games Tuesday and Wednesday

VESTAL, N.Y. - After taking two of three against Mercer, Binghamton baseball (6-7) travels two hours up the road in Georgia to face Atlantic Sun member Kennesaw State (11-9) Tuesday night and Wednesday afternoon. The teams will play at 5 p.m. Tuesday and 3 p.m. Wednesday at Stillwell Baseball Stadium.

Binghamton has won four of its last five games - a series sweep over VMI last weekend and two wins at Mercer this weekend. In the last six games, the Bearcats have a 4.08 pitching ERA. Junior second baseman Alex Baratta went 8-for-12 against Mercer and is hitting .400 in his last six games. Sophomore designated hitter Sam Freedman is batting .364 during that same stretch.

Senior designated hitter Sean Trenholm leads the team with eight RBI.

Sophomore right-hander Luke Dziados (0-0, 1.93 ERA) will make his first collegiate start on Tuesday. With a three-game conference-opening series looming against Maine on the weekend, 27th-year head coach Tim Sinicki hasn't announced his Wednesday starter to finish the abbreviated series at Kennesaw.

The host Owls have won five straight after dropping six straight previous games. Kennesaw took a pair from Presbyterian and over the weekend, swept a three-game set from UMass. They are hitting .292 as a team, have a 3.94 pitching ERA and are 11-4 at home this spring. Freshman right-hander Brendan Bickleman (1-0, 9.00) will get the start in Tuesday's game.

Kennesaw returns 19 letterwinners, including all nine position players from a 25-win team that finished third in the ASUN Conference. The program last went to the NCAA Regionals in 2014.

The teams played once before - a doubleheader in 2010. The host Owls posted 10-7 and 10-5 wins over a BU team that would go on to win its fourth straight America East regular season title later that spring. The games were played at University of Tennessee, which BU defeated as part of the trip.
