The Binghamton University volleyball team dropped two contests against Seton Hall and Northeastern to close out the Seton Hall Classic Saturday afternoon. The Bearcats fell in four sets to the Pirates before dropping all three sets to the Huskies.
Francela Ulate enjoyed a solid overall match against Seton Hall, recording 16 kills to go alongside five service aces. She is fifth in the America East in kills thus far this season and was named to the all-tournament team following the conclusion of the last match.
Kiara Adams also handed out 32 assists while
Kim Lavender led the way with 13 digs.
The Bearcats fell behind early, dropping the first two sets, but roared back with a strong third frame. Ulate did most of the scoring, with the help of Stephanie Andruskova and
Audrey Haworth. The Pirates trimmed a 23-15 advantage down to 23-19, but the Bearcats scored the final two points to start a potential comeback in the match.
The Bearcats could never quite find their footing in the fourth set and fell behind by a wide margin, which soon became insurmountable. Binghamton fell, 19-25, 18-25, 25-19, 25-14.
Lavender added 14 digs in the second match of the day and
Anna Sprys had two blocks, but it wasn't enough as Northeastern mounted early leads and was able to maintain a comfortable advantage throughout (15-25, 16-25, 17-25).
The Bearcats will use this week to regroup and will head to West Point next weekend for the Black Knights Invitational.
