The Binghamton University wrestling team will continue its tough early schedule Saturday afternoon against Virginia Tech at the Events Center. The Bearcats, who are still working on getting fully healthy, will take on the No. 4 nationally ranked Hokies before hitting the road for two EIWA duals against Penn and Drexel Sunday.
The Bearcats are currently in the midst of a three match losing streak that began at the start of the month. Despite the recent struggles, there have been a few bright spots over the last few weeks.
Matt Swanson picked up his first career dual victory against Lehigh on January 10. and No. 6
Lou DePrez has a pin and a major decision under his belt in his last two bouts.
Joe Doyle and
Anthony Sparacio have also each won their last two matchups, although Sparacio is not in the projected lineup for Saturday.
In the Rankings
Binghamton has two wrestlers in the Intermat national rankings this week, as DePrez continues to be near the top of the list at 184 pounds. His No. 6 ranking alongside
Zack Trampe's position at No. 11 continue to lead the Bearcats.

About the Hokies
No. 4 Virginia Tech comes into the weekend unbeaten in six duals, and have six wrestlers in the starting lineup recognized in the national rankings. No. 2 Hunter Bolen (184 pounds) and No. 3 David McFadden (165 pounds) have led the team this year, and McFadden is coming off his 100
th career victory. Bolen faced off against DePrez at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invite in December, defeating him 8-3.
The Hokies have a 2-1 edge in the all-time series, and defeated the Bearcats 32-9 in their most recent matchup (2013).

A look at Penn
Penn is 1-3 in dual matches, but is coming off a dominating win over Duke (48-3). Their schedule has featured Penn State, Old Dominion and Kent State thus far.
The top of the lineup is the strength of the team, as No. 9 Michael Colaiocco (125 pounds), No. 16 Anthony Artalona (157 pounds) and No. 20 Doug Zapf (141 pounds) lead the way for the Quakers. The trio have a combined 39-14 record this season.
