Men's Lacrosse Wins Triple Overtime Thriller

Binghamton defeats Lafayette 11-10 in home opener

VESTAL, N.Y. - The Binghamton men's lacrosse (1-2) team won 11-10 over Lafayette (0-4) in triple overtime this afternoon at the Bearcats Sports Complex. Freshman Ryan McBeth scored the game-winner off a feed from Kevin Winkoff with just 56 seconds to go in the third overtime.

"It was great to get a win today in our home opener," head coach Kevin McKeown said. "We improved some areas from our previous games that allowed the offense to have more opportunities. I thought Lafayette battled hard after going down that early, credit them for that. I'm proud of the way we fought in overtime - we had some great ball movement on the game winning goal."

The Bearcats came out strong, scoring four consecutive goals at the start of the game to get an early lead. The Bearcats only allowed three Lafayette goals in the first half, taking a 5-3 lead into halftime.

The second half was a hard-fought battle, as the two teams traded goals in the opening minutes. Lafayette scored back to back goals to end the third quarter, tying the score at seven. The Bearcats and Leopards each scored three goals in the fourth, with Lafayette's Cole Dutton finding the net with just 31 seconds remaining in regulation to force overtime.

McBeth sealed the win with .56 to go in the third overtime off a feed from Winkoff to take the 11-10 win.

Winkoff tallied up new career highs in assists (4) and points (7). Justin Roderka finished with three goals and one assist, while Thomas Greenblatt added two goals. Tom Galgano forced four turnovers in the contest.

The Bearcats look to continue the momentum on Tuesday, Feb. 25 against Bucknell. The game is set for a 4 p.m. faceoff at the Bearcats Sports Complex.
