Men's Lacrosse Falls in Season Opener to Marist

Teddy Dolan with 17 saves in the net; Red Foxes outscore Bearcats 12-4

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Binghamton men's lacrosse team fell 12-4 Sunday afternoon in its season opener to Marist. The defending MAAC Champions outscored the Bearcats 8-1 in the second half to secure the victory. Sophomore Teddy Dolan came up big in the net with 17 saves in the game.

"Today was not indicative of who we are as a team," head coach Kevin McKeown said. "We didn't start well coming out of halftime and we just let it snowball.  I thought Teddy Dolan played outstanding for us in the goal. Give Marist a lot of credit, they are a seasoned group, and it showed today."

Binghamton and Marist played evenly in the first half, as the Red Foxes only led by one going into halftime. After a scoreless seven minutes to start the game, the two teams traded goals. Thomas Greenblatt scored his first career goal for the Bearcats at 3:23 in the first quarter. Marist followed with two consecutive goals to close out the quarter leading 3-1.

The Bearcats outscored Marist 2-1 in the second quarter to close the gap, as Jackson Rieger and Justin Roderka went for back to back goals to close out halftime.

Marist opened the second half with eight consecutive goals despite Dolan's nine saves. William Talbott-Shere scored Binghamton's fourth and final goal with 3:06 left in the game.

The Bearcats are back in action Sat. Feb. 15 at  2 p.m. against Syracuse.
