Men’s Soccer Hosts Nationally-Ranked Cornell

Bearcats and Big Red square off Tuesday at 7 p.m.

STORY LINES

- Binghamton (7-5-1) lost 2-1 at Hartford on Saturday afternoon. Graduate student midfielder Noah Luescher scored the Bearcats' goal on a free kick in the 77th minute.

- Junior forward Ethan Homler leads Binghamton in scoring so far this season with five goals and 11 total points. Luescher is second with nine total points (three goals and three assists). Junior forward Oliver Svalander, meanwhile, has four goals and eight total points.

- At the start of the week, Binghamton was ranked fifth in the United Soccer Coaches (USC) Northeast Region Poll. The Bearcats have appeared in the rankings four weeks so far this season.

- Entering the week, Cornell (8-2-1) was ranked No. 19 in the USC Top 25 National Poll. The Big Red was also ranked second in the USC Northeast Region Poll.

- Cornell dropped its most recent match, 1-0, at Yale on Saturday. The last Big Red victory was a 2-0 triumph over Colgate last Tuesday.

- Tyler Bagley leads Cornell and ranks first in the nation with 2.45 points per game. He has 10 goals and seven assists for 27 total points so far this season. Bagley is also tied for sixth with 0.91 goals per game and is No. 11 with 0.64 assists per contest.

- Cornell leads the all-time series against Binghamton 7-4-1, having won the past two meetings. Most recently, the Big Red won 2-0 at the Bearcats Sports Complex back on Aug. 31, 2018. Binghamton's last win in the series was a 1-0 road triumph on Sept. 15, 2015.

- Luescher enters the match against Cornell with 19 career goals, which is tied for second during Binghamton's 21-year NCAA Division I era. He is deadlocked with Charles Darkwah (2002-04) and Cameron Keith (2008-09). In first place, with 28 career goals, is Jake Keegan (2009-12).

- Luescher is also second during the Bearcats' NCAA Division I era with 15 assists and 53 total points. Adam Whitehead (2009-12) is first with 17 assists while Keegan is tops with 69 career points.

- Binghamton's last win over a nationally-ranked program was a 2-1 victory over then No. 23 New Hampshire on Sept. 29, 2018 at the Bearcats Sports Complex. Luescher finished that match with a goal and an assist.
