Men’s Soccer Heads to Albany

Bearcats and Great Danes meet Thursday at 7 p.m.

STORY LINES

- Binghamton (7-7-1, 2-4-0 AE) lost 3-2 in overtime to NJIT on Saturday. Redshirt sophomore midfielder Anthony Lazaridis recorded the first two-goal game of his career. Junior back Michael Bush assisted on the first goal while redshirt sophomore forward Rory Anderson was credited with the assist on the second goal.

- Junior forwards Ethan Homler and Oliver Svalander are tied for the team lead with five goals so far this season. Homler ranks first with 11 total points. Lazaridis and graduate student midfielder Noah Luescher are tied for third with three goals. Luescher is also third overall with nine total points, which includes a team-best three assists.

- Homler and Svalander are tied for eighth in the America East with 0.357 goals per game. Homler is also second with 0.286 game-winning goals per game. Redshirt junior goalkeeper P.J. Parker, meanwhile, is third with a 0.738 save percentage and is tied for third with 0.333 shutouts per game.

- Albany (9-5-1, 3-2-1 AE) lost 2-0 to Vermont on Saturday. The Great Danes have been led in scoring this year by Haflidi Sigurdarson, who has three goals, three assists and nine total points.

- Austin DaSilva of the Great Danes is tied for sixth in the America East with 0.333 assists per game (five total). In goal, Carlos Tofern is third in the conference with a 1.21 goals against average.

- Binghamton has an 11-9-3 series lead against Albany since both programs joined the America East in 2001. Last year, the two teams split a pair of matches. Luescher scored both goals in the Bearcats' 2-1 win at home on Feb. 26 but the Great Danes got even with a 2-1 home triumph on March 26.

- Binghamton's last win at Albany was a 1-0 triumph on Nov. 11, 2015 in the America East semifinals. The Great Danes have since taken the last three meetings at home.

- With a victory over the Great Danes, the Bearcats will record their highest win total since 2015, when they finished 10-8-2. The Bearcats' current win total (seven) equals their best effort since going 7-6-6 in 2016.

- Luescher enters the match against Albany with 19 career goals, which is tied for second during Binghamton's 21-year NCAA Division I era. He is deadlocked with Charles Darkwah (2002-04) and Cameron Keith (2008-09). In first place, with 28 career goals, is Jake Keegan (2009-12).

- Luescher is also second during the Bearcats' NCAA Division I era with 15 assists and 53 total points. Adam Whitehead (2009-12) is first with 17 assists while Keegan is tops with 69 career points.
