ALBANY, N.Y. - The Binghamton volleyball team dropped a road contest to Albany by a score of 23-25, 11-25, 21-25. The Bearcats carried leads late in the first and third sets, but the Great Danes rallied to take both frames and the match.
Anna Sprys led BU with six blocks, upping her season total to 85. Emily Rail contributed 16 digs, the most she's had in a three-set match this season. Stefana Stan and Elis Gadelha each had six kills offensively.
The Bearcats led for a majority of the first set, and as late as 16-13, but a 7-0 run for Albany gave the advantage back to the hosts.Binghamton showed fortitude, tying the frame at 23 late on Stan kill before the Great Danes scored twice to go up 1-0 in the match.
Albany led from the start in the second en route to a 25-11 win despite multiple kills by Gadelha.
Binghamton had a strong start in the third, taking a 7-2 lead capped by a Tyra Wilson kill before Albany responded to tie it at nine. It would continue to go back-and-forth, with BU taking a 20-19 edge, but the Great Danes finished the match scoring six of the final seven points.
Binghamton finishes its season Saturday with a make-up matchup with New Hampshire. First serve is set for 4:30 p.m.
