Men’s Lacrosse falls to UAlbany 19-7 in Home Opener

Sophomore Thomas Greenblatt and Senior William Talbott-Shere combined for four goals

VESTAL, N.Y. -- The Binghamton men's lacrosse team (1-1 AE) lost its home opener to UAlbany (3-1, 2-1 AE) 19-7. Greenblatt and Talbott-Shere each net two goals. Matthew DeSouza won 13 faceoffs and picked up a team-high seven ground balls in the contest.

"We saw some good things early on, but we didn't show enough resolve when things didn't go our way," head coach Kevin McKeown said. "I thought Matt DeSouza had a very good day again for us at the face-off X."

UAlbany opened the first period on a 3-0 run, sparked by Tehoka Nanicoke's 100th career goal. The Bearcats came back with two goals by Greenblatt and junior attacker Daniel MacKinney to tighten the Great Danes lead to one. UAlbany and Binghamton each netted one more goal, and the Bearcats were down 4-3 at the end of the first period.

Momentum shifted in the second period as the Great Danes outscored Binghamton 5-1. Talbott-Shere scored the lone Bearcat goal and UAlbany took a 9-4 lead into halftime.

UAlbany outscored Binghamton 10-3 in the second half of the game to win 19-7.

Freshmen attackers Dylan Yacavone and Anthony Todaro, and Greenblatt scored the Bearcats final three goals of the game. Senior defender Tom Galgano caused four turnovers in the contest. Senior goalie Rob Martin and sophomore Teddy Dolan combined for 19 saves.
