Men’s Lacrosse Travels to UMBC Saturday

Bearcats and Retrievers set for noon face-off

VESTAL, N.Y. -- The Binghamton University men's lacrosse team (2-1 America East) will hit the road to face UMBC (3-1, 2-1 AE) on Saturday at 12 p.m in Baltimore, Md. The matchup will be the second meeting of the week between the two sides.

Notes

  • The Bearcats are coming off an 8-7 overtime win against the Retrievers Wednesday.

  • Redshirt sophomore goalie Teddy Dolan led the way for BU, tying a career high with 18 saves, including several down the stretch. 

  • Junior attack Daniel MacKinney capped off Binghamton's strong defensive effort, putting away the game-winning goal with .7 seconds remaining in overtime. 

  • Senior attack Justin Roderka leads the team in goals scored on the season with 12.

  • Junior midfielder Kevin Winkoff leads in points with 15 (nine goals, six assists).

  • Face-off specialist Matthew DeSouza has won 31 of 56 face-offs this season (.554) and has 18 ground balls.
     

Scouting UMBC

  • The Retrievers have started their season at 3-1, with their only loss coming to BU. Three of their first four games went into overtime.

  • UMBC opened their season with a non-conference victory over Mt. St. Mary's (8-7).

  • In the Retrievers' second game of the season, they defeated Stony Brook 13-12 after four overtime periods. 

  • Nick Dupuis leads UMBC in points; 12 goals, 5 assists. The sophomore attack was a part of five goals against Binghamton, notching three goals and adding two assists.
     

Up Next

After Saturday's match, Binghamton will return home for a matchup with NJIT the following weekend. Opening draw will be at 2 p.m. on April 3.
