Men’s Lacrosse Falls to #18 Stony Brook 22-8

Greenblatt and Winkoff lead the Bearcats with two goals apiece

STONY BROOK, N.Y. -- The Binghamton University men's lacrosse team (3-4, 3-4 AE) lost on the road to #18 Stony Brook (8-3, 6-1 AE) Friday afternoon at LaValle Stadium. A strong, second half Seawolve offense kept the Bearcats at bay.

The first period opened up with two quick Stony Brook scores. Quinn O'Hara answered to get the Bearcats on the board. Kevin Winkoff and William Talbott-Shere each added a goal in the first period to tie the game up at three. The Seawolves went on a three goal run to close out the first period with the 6-3 advantage.

Bearcats leading scorer Thomas Greenblatt started the second period tallying back-to-back goals. Stony Brook answered with another three goal run to maintain their lead. Long stick Teddy McLoughlin recorded his first goal of the season with under two minutes remaining in the second half. The Seawolves quickly retaliated with a score of their own to give themselves the 10-6 lead heading into the break.

In a scoreless third period for the Bearcats, Stony Brook was firing on all cylinders. Momentum was on the Seawolves side as they scored seven goals to make it 17-6 heading into the final period.

Stony Brook's run continued adding five total goals in the fourth period. Winkoff added his second of the night and freshman Dylan Yacavone notched his second of the season, but the Bearcats fell 22-8 to the Seawolves.

Greenblatt and Winkoff combined for four goals in the 22-8 loss.

The Bearcats return home to take on University of Vermont Saturday, April 24 at 1 p.m. at the Bearcats Sports Complex in Vestal.
