VESTAL, N.Y. -- The Binghamton men's swimming & diving program didn't just win the America East title this season. It also recorded the highest sport GPA of any men's swimming & diving program in the conference during the 2020-21 academic year.

With a 3.59 overall team GPA, the Bearcats topped the America East for the third time in four years in the classroom. In addition, Binghamton has now posted the top men's swimming & diving team GPA five times since 2009. The conference did not sponsor men's swimming & diving between 2014-2017.

The Binghamton men's swimming & diving team was one of only two teams to sweep both the America East title as well as the Sport GPA crown during the 2020-21 academic year. The New Hampshire men's soccer team, which swept both the conference regular-season and tournament championships, recorded a sport-best 3.56 GPA.

The America East Sport GPA title marks the latest of several academic honors for the men's program this year. Junior Ryan Board was named the America East Elite 18 Award winner in men's swimming and was also the sports Scholar-Athlete for the 2020-21 academic year. Board was also one of three Bearcats to be named to the America East Men's Swimming & Diving All-Academic Team - joining seniors David Walters and Erik Temple.

Since joining the America East prior to the 2001-02 academic year, Binghamton as an athletic department has earned 52 Sport GPA awards.
