Bearcats fall to Maine 83-60

VESTAL, N.Y. -- Joe Campbell led five Maine players in double figures and Binghamton (6-11, 3-4 America East) was defeated by the Black Bears (6-11, 3-3 America East) 83-60. Campbell drained five of six three-pointers and led all scorers with 20 points.

Binghamton led 19-18 midway through the first half before Maine ended the half on a 20-8 run and took a 38-27 lead into the break. Campbell had eight of his 14 first-half points during the run and Todd Tibbetts added five points. The Black Bears opened the second half on a 23-7 run to put the game away, taking a 61-34 lead with 12 minutes remaining. Justin Rowe had six points during the run. Tibbetts finished with 15 points and Rowe added 14 with five rebounds and three blocks.

Jeffrey St. Fort led Binghamton with 12 points and freshman center Nick Billings had 11 points with four rebounds and four blocked shots. Billings broke Binghamton's all-time season record for blocks. He now has 56 on the season, breaking the old mark of 54 set in 1992-93 and matched in 1993-94. Senior guard Mike Wright had nine points and five steals. Wright recorded his 1,000th career point with a jumper midway through the second half. He is the 16th member of Binghamton's 1,000-point club.

The Bearcats have three games remaining on a five-game homestand. The team will host Northeastern Thursday night at 7 p.m. BU also faces Boston University on Saturday at 1 p.m. and hosts Colgate January 28 at 7 p.m.
