VESTAL, N.Y. – Tuesday afternoon was preseason media day for the Binghamton men's soccer, volleyball and cross country programs. After having their 2020 seasons postponed to the spring, all three Bearcat squads are on the verge of starting their traditional fall campaigns.
The men's soccer team, which opens up at Colgate on Thursday at 7:30 p.m., was represented at media day by head coach
Paul Marco, captain
Noah Luescher and goalkeeper
P.J. Parker. Luescher was a first-team all-conference midfielder last year and was the America East's Men's Soccer Scholar-Athlete for the 2020-21 academic year.
The volleyball program begins its season this coming weekend at the Towson & Morgan State Tournament. On Tuesday at media day, head coach
Glenn Kiriyama was joined by
Emily Rail and
Stephanie Gatto.
The cross country program starts its season on Sept. 18 at the America East Pre-Conference Meet, which will be held at New Hampshire.
Emily Mackay and
Dan Schaffer represented the teams on Tuesday. Mackey won the America East women's title last year and went on to earn All-America honors with a 14th place at the NCAA Championships. Schaffer, meanwhile, was fourth in the conference last year and went on to clock a 3:58 mile during the ensuing outdoor track campaign.
While the men's cross country, volleyball and cross country teams are preparing for their seasons, the Binghamton women's soccer team is already a week into their games. The Bearcats are currently 1-1-0 after beating Fordham 2-0 in their home opener on Sunday.
