Women race Friday at 11 a.m., men to follow at noon

VESTAL, N.Y. – The Binghamton cross country teams head to the America East Championships on Friday at UAlbany. The women's 5K race begins at 11 a.m. while the gun for the men's 8K run goes off at noon.

Both the Bearcat men's and women's squads have won the past two invitationals they have entered. This includes the Iona Meet of Champions (Sept. 11) as well as the Albany Invitational (Oct. 17).

Junior Bobby Mayclim, who placed a team-best fourth at last year's America Championships, captured the men's individual titles at Iona and UAlbany. He was also named the America East Men's Performer of the Week on Sept. 14.

On the women's side, fellow junior Alicia DeFilippis was the individual champion at Iona and the runner up at UAlbany.

Mayclim is one of three Binghamton men's runners to have earned all-conference last year. He is joined by junior Nick Thomas (fifth place), senior Liam Cody (seventh) and sophomore George Thomatos (12th).

In addition, sophomore Anthony Zazzaro was 19th last season and fellow sophomore Noah Hilker placed 23rd. Junior Oliver Jibb, meanwhile, was 28th two seasons ago.

Binghamton's two men's freshmen - Owen Gasper and Carson Zuba - have both factored into the team's success this year. At UAlbany two weeks ago, they placed eighth and 10th respectively.

As a team, the Bearcats have been ranked in the United States Track & Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Northeast Region Poll the entire 2026 campaign. Binghamton is currently ranked No. 15. The Bearcats were ranked as high as No. 11 twice this season (Sept. 29 & Oct. 13).

Binghamton finished a close second to UMass Lowell in the men's race last year at the America East Championships. The River Hawks are the six-time defending conference champions.

Binghamton last won the men's title in 2014, squeaking out a three-point win (59-62) over UMass Lowell. The Bearcats have won two America East championships all time, having also finished first in 2009. Including last season, Binghamton has been the runner up at the America East championships four times (2010, 2013, 2022 & 2025).

Junior Anna Gansrow has earned all-conference honors in the America East women's race the past two years. She was 14th in 2024 and moved up to 10th place last year. Senior Brynn Hogan, meanwhile, placed 13th in 2023.

Two women's runners who have shown consistent improvement this year are sophomore Taylor Page and junior Eleanor Lees. Lees was the runner up at Iona while Page was fourth at Iona and fifth at UAlbany.
The Bearcats' three women's rookies this year are Chloe Connolly, Anna Congelli and Julia Duzynski. At UAlbany, Connolly was sixth overall.

Also returning this season at the conference meet are seniors Vicky Mordvinova and Abigail Litwiller as well as junior Madeline Jensen. Mordvinova was 30th overall last year.

The Bearcat women's team has placed third at the America East meet the past two years after winning its first-ever title in 2023. Binghamton was also the runner up in 2022.

Maine is the defending women's champion while Bryant was a close second last year.
