- Binghamton begins its 21st season as a NCAA Division I program and its 20th under head coach
Paul Marco. The Bearcats finished the truncated 2020-21 schedule 2-4, including a 2-1 mark at home.
- Playing in the Patriot League, Colgate finished the 2020-21 schedule 1-4-1. The Raiders' victory was a 1-0 overtime triumph over Army on March 27.

Noah Luescher returns for his fifth season with the Bearcats after being named first-team America East All-Conference last year. He ranked fifth in the nation with 0.83 goals per game and ninth with 1.83 points per contest. Luescher was also named the America East Men's Soccer Scholar-Athlete. In addition, he was chosen as a COSIDA Academic All-District honoree.
- Aidan Davok led Colgate last season with two goals and four total points in six matches. As a team, the Raiders have 14 upperclassmen on their 2021 roster.
- The all-time series between Binghamton and Colgate is all even at 4-4-4. Most recently, the two programs played to a 1-1 draw on Sept. 14, 2018 at the Bearcats Sports Complex. In the most recent meeting at Colgate, however, the Bearcats took a 2-1 decision on Aug. 28, 2017. Luescher scored just five minutes into that match.
- Dating back to the 2016 season, the Bearcats have won four of their past five season-opening matches. Luescher has five goals in four previous season openers. In each of the past two years, he has recorded two-goal games in the first match of the year.
