VESTAL, N.Y. – For the second time in a row, senior goalkeeper
Mats Roorda has been named the America East Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
Roorda was a key player during the Bearcats' second straight unbeaten week (1-0-1). He made four saves and posted his first career assist in the Bearcats' 2-1 win at Bucknell last Tuesday. Against Albany this past Saturday, Roorda made six saves in a scoreless tie to record his third solo shutout of the season.
Roorda is the first Binghamton player to earn a weekly award from the America East in back-to-back weeks since Harrison Weilbacher was named the Rookie of the Week on Oct. 19 and Oct. 26 during the 2015 season.
For his career, Roorda now has three weekly awards from the America East. He was also named the Co-Rookie of the Week on Sept. 23, 2019.
Binghamton hosts UMass Lowell in its Senior Day match on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Bearcats head into that match having gone 2-0-2 in their last four outings.
