Men's Soccer Hosts Albany on Homecoming Weekend

| By:

Bearcats and Great Danes face off Saturday at 6:07 p.m.

STORY LINES

-    This marks the 15th Homecoming Weekend game at the Bearcats Sports Complex since the facility opened in 2007. The previous 14 matches have drawn an average of 1,876 fans.

-    Binghamton (2-6-3, 0-1-1 AE) won 2-1 at Bucknell on Tuesday night behind a pair of goals from redshirt junior forward Anthony Lazaridis. It marked his second career-two goal performance. With the victory, the Bearcats are now unbeaten in their past three matches (2-0-1).

-    Senior goalkeeper Mats Roorda is the current America East Defensive Player of the Week. He has surrendered just one goal in his last three outings. Against Bucknell, he even recorded an assist - something no other Binghamton goalkeeper has done since 2017. In the current America East rankings, Roorda ranks fourth with a 1.157 goals against average (GAA).

-    Junior midfielder Markos Touroukis leads Binghamton with three goals and seven points so far this season. Lazaridis is one of three Bearcat players to have scored twice this season. Senior forward Matthew Cozetti and junior back Joe Spires are the other two.

-    Albany (3-5-2, 2-0-0 AE) defeated Bryant 3-0 last Saturday in their Homecoming match to remain tied for first place in the America East. The Great Danes netted all three goals within a stretch of 15 minutes, with Andrew Weiner, Tiago Dias, and Saad Faiz scoring during that stretch.

-    Faiz leads the Great Danes with three goals and seven total points so far this season. Weiner and Diaz have each scored twice. In goal, Shafique Wilson ranks third in the America East with a 1.00 GAA.

-    Since the two teams moved up to the NCAA Division I level back in 2001, Binghamton holds a slight 11-10-3 in the series. Most recently, however, the Great Danes won 1-0 at home on Oct. 28, 2011. At the Bearcats Sports Complex, the Bearcats have won the past two meetings against UAlbany. This marks the first time that the Great Danes come to campus for the Homecoming Weekend match.

-    The Bearcats are 5-6-3 all-time on Homecoming Weekend at the Bearcats Sports Complex and are seeking their first win since beating Buffalo 3-0 in 2016. Last year, a crowd of 1,365 watched as fifth-ranked New Hampshire defeated Binghamton 4-1.
