BOSTON, Mass. – It was an impressive weekend for the Binghamton jumpers at the ECAC/IC4A Indoor Track & Field Championships, which took place at the Boston University Track & Tennis Center. The Bearcats had five different athletes score in either the long jump or triple jump.
As a result, the Binghamton women's squad placed 12th out of 37 scoring teams while the men's squad was 19th out of 42 scoring teams. The 12th-place team finish is the highest for the Binghamton women at the ECAC/IC4A Indoor Championships, eclipsing their 15th-place performance in 2015.
Graduate student
Brittany Korsah was the Bearcats' top finisher, placing second in the triple jump (40-10 ¼). She was joined by fellow graduate student
Nia Joyner, who was eighth (39-2 ½). Joyner also finished seventh in the 200 (24.47).
The Bearcats had three men's jumpers place in the top eight of their events. Senior
Jake Restivo was fourth in the long jump (23-3 ½) while junior
Marcrene Jeannot took fourth in the triple jump (48-8 ¼). Freshman
Marcus Johnson, meanwhile, was fifth in the triple jump (48-6 ¾).
Binghamton's other point scorers included senior
Aziza Chigatayeva in the women's 3,000 (9:26.36) and sophomore
Jenna Chan in the women's 60 hurdles (8.62).
