Softball Hosts Stony Brook in AE Series

Bearcats and Seawolves slated for three conference games this weekend

TENTATIVE SCHEDULE

- Saturday, Noon DH

STORY LINES

- Binghamton (14-16, 1-3 AE) dropped a conference doubleheader at Albany on Wednesday by scores of 5-2 and 12-2. The Bearcats got home runs from freshman outfielder Sarah Rende and senior infielder Alli Richmond. Rende now leads the Bearcats with four home runs while Richmond has three home runs and a team-best 17 RBI.

- Freshman outfielder Alayna Harbaugh ranks sixth in the conference in batting (.366), third in on-base percentage (.444), first in stolen bases (15) and is tied for third with 13 walks. Richmond's RBI total ranks ninth and she is also tied for first with 12 doubles. On the national level, Richmond is tied for eighth with 0.40 doubles per game. Rende, meanwhile, is tied for fifth in the America East in both home runs (four) and runs scored (20).

- On the mound, sophomore Allison L'Amoreaux is tied for fifth in the America East in both wins (seven) and strikeouts (80). Graduate student pitcher Chelsea Howard, meanwhile, is eighth with 58 strikeouts.

- Stony Brook (20-12, 1-3 AE) was swept 5-1 and 3-0 by UMBC in an America East doubleheader on Wednesday. Alyssa Costello leads the America East with a .448 batting average while Corinne Badger leads the conference with 13 home runs and 42 RBI. On the national level, Badger ranks No. 13 with 0.41 home runs per game and is tied for No. 42 with 1.03 RBI per game.

- The Seawolves' top pitcher this season has been Dawn Bodrug, who ranks first in the America East with 195 strikeouts. She is also tied for second with 12 wins and four with a 1.87 ERA. On the national level, Bodrug is seventh with 11.7 strikeouts per game.

- During the two teams' NCAA Division I era, Stony Brook leads the all-time series against Binghamton 40-24. Most recently, the Seawolves swept a 1-0, 10-0 doubleheader at home on March 27, 2021. The Bearcats' last win over Stony Brook was 1-0 road triumph on April 7, 2019.

- Binghamton and Stony Brook have not squared off at the Bearcats Sports Complex since the 2016 season. In 2018, the series was moved to Cornell with the Binghamton facility still being under construction. In 2020, the series was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
