Nearby rivals will play second of three times this spring; First pitch set for 3:30 p.m. in Ithaca

VESTAL, N.Y. - Having won six of its last nine, Binghamton baseball (10-20) plays familiar Upstate New York foe Cornell (7-18) Wednesday afternoon. The teams square off for the second of three meetings this spring at 3:30 p.m. at Hoy Field in a game broadcast on ESPN+.

The Bearcats are coming off a strong weekend that saw them take a conference series from reigning America East regular season champion Stony Brook. One of the key contributors was reigning BU Student-Athlete of the Week Nick Roselli, who had four hits and five RBI in the three-game series. In a 3-1 week, Roselli had a .444 on-base percentage and drove in seven runs. Senior shortstop Jake Evans went 5-for-10 with two RBI in the series as BU pinned the first series loss on the Seawolves.

Junior left fielder Cavan Tully leads the Bearcats with a .327 average and a .438 on-base percentage (8th in America East). Freshman catcher/DH Evin Sullivan and junior first baseman Connor Aoki share the team lead with 18 RBI. Aoki has a team-high six home runs. Sullivan is hitting .320 and leads the team with nine doubles. The Bearcats are hitting .254 and has a 6.22 pitching ERA.

Sophomore Owen Parliament will make his first start of the season on Wednesday. The Wofford transfer has appeared in five games this season - all in relief.

Cornell dropped three at Penn over the weekend and has lost five in a row, including a 5-3 setback at Binghamton last Tuesday. The Big Red are hitting .246 as a team and have a pitching ERA of 9.24.

Last Tuesday, Sullivan and Roselli combined to drive in all five BU runs in a 5-3 win over visiting Cornell. With BU ahead 3-1, Sullivan and Roselli drilled back-to-back home runs in the sixth inning. The Bearcats turned three timely double plays and then withstood a late Cornell rally. Seven Bearcat pitchers limited the Big Red to seven hits.

Despite BU's head-to-head win last week, Cornell still leads the all-time series, which began in 1984, 22-18-1.
