PHILADELPHIA, Pa --- Binghamton track & field posted several impressive performances at Penn Relays this past weekend.
The women's Distance Medley Relay (DMR) team of seniors
Aziza Chigatayeva and
Stephanie Cassens, freshman
Hillary Abankwa and graduate student
Emily Mackay clocked an eighth-place time of 11:12.15. In the process, they broke the school record of 11:37.87, which was set the America East Indoor Championships back in February.
The women's 4x100 relay team of graduate student
Nia Joyner, sophomore
Jenna Chan, senior
Dominique Jackson and junior
Sophia Morone placed fifth overall with a time of 46.62. That marks the second-fastest performance in program history, trailing only the 2014 mark of 46.17.
In the men's DMR Championship race, the Bearcats placed 10th overall with a time of 9:48.54. That quartet included junior
Ryan Guerci, freshman
Marcus Johnson, junior
Mark Scanlon and graduate student
Dan Schaffer.
Binghamton heads to the America East Championships next Saturday and Sunday at Vermont.
