Women's DMR breaks programs record, women's 4x100 clocks second-fastest program time

PHILADELPHIA, Pa --- Binghamton track & field posted several impressive performances at Penn Relays this past weekend.

The women's Distance Medley Relay (DMR) team of seniors Aziza Chigatayeva and Stephanie Cassens, freshman Hillary Abankwa and graduate student Emily Mackay clocked an eighth-place time of 11:12.15. In the process, they broke the school record of 11:37.87, which was set the America East Indoor Championships back in February.

The women's 4x100 relay team of graduate student Nia Joyner, sophomore Jenna Chan, senior Dominique Jackson and junior Sophia Morone placed fifth overall with a time of 46.62. That marks the second-fastest performance in program history, trailing only the 2014 mark of 46.17.

In the men's DMR Championship race, the Bearcats placed 10th overall with a time of 9:48.54. That quartet included junior Ryan Guerci, freshman Marcus Johnson, junior Mark Scanlon and graduate student Dan Schaffer.

Binghamton heads to the America East Championships next Saturday and Sunday at Vermont.
