Men's lacrosse set to face UMBC in AE semifinals

No. 2 Bearcats and No. 3 Retrievers square off at 4 p.m. Thursday in Burlington, Vt.

BURLINGTON, VT.--- No. 2 Binghamton men's lacrosse (5-8, 3-3 AE) is set to take on No. 3 UMBC (5-6, 3-3 AE) in the America East Semifinals, hosted by Vermont. The Bearcats return to the playoffs for the first time since 2017. With a win against UMBC, BU will have a shot at the winner of the other semifinal between top-seeded Vermont and No. 4 Albany.

  • In the regular season meeting against UMBC, Binghamton came out victorious by a final score of 12-8
  • Seniors Kevin Winkoff (4 goals) and Daniel MacKinney (3 goals) led BU in scoring in the regular season matchup
  • Redshirt junior Teddy Dolan secured 10 saves and only allowed eight goals in the contest
  • Six Bearcats were named to America East All-Conference teams (First Team, Second Team or All Rookie), Head Coach Kevin McKeown, Assistants Tyler Perrelle, Nick Grill, and Kevin Derr were named the America East Coaching Staff of the Year

  • In the first matchup, the Retreivers won 18-24 faceoffs but only produced eight goals and was outshot 38-27
  • Brett Baucia led the team with three goals and one assist
  • UMBC turned the ball over 19 times in the first meeting
  • Five players were named to the America East All-Conference teams (First Team, Second Team or All Rookie)
