- Binghamton (0-1-0) lost 3-1 to James Madison on Thursday night. Junior midfielder
Markos Touroukis netted the Bearcats' goal in the 34th minute, with the assist going to senior midfielder
Parker McKnight. Touroukis was one of four new Binghamton players in the starting lineup against the Dukes.
- Drexel (0-0-1) - which competes in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) - tied NJIT 2-2 on Thursday afternoon. The Dragons' goals were scored by Daniel Nesseler and Kyle Tucker. Drexel finished the 2021 season 8-8-1 and Tucker was named third-team All-CAA.
- The Bearcats have an all-time record of 1-1-0 against Drexel. Binghamton lost the 2018 season opener against the Dragons, 3-2 but was victorious in the 2019 opener, 2-1.
- This marks Binghamton's third appearance at the James Madison Invitational. The Bearcats also took part in the event in 2013 and 2017.
