STORY LINES
- Binghamton (3-6-2, 1-0-2 AE) won 3-1 at UAlbany on Saturday. After an own goal by UAlbany in the first half, freshman forward Anthony Randazzo - the current America East Rookie Player of the Week - scored in the 69th minute. Less than four minutes later, sophomore midfielder Calvin Moe headed the ball into the net from a throw-in by graduate student back Michael Bush.
- Graduate student midfielder Jack Green leads the Bearcats with nine total points this season (three goals and three assists). Redshirt senior Anthony Lazaridas has five total points this season from two goals and an assist.
- Vermont (8-2-2, 2-1-0 AE) is coming off a 1-0 defeat by NJIT on Saturday. Previously in the season, the Catamounts defeated America East opponents Bryant and UMass Lowell. They are currently ranked No. 22 in the United Soccer Coaches (USC) Top 25 National Poll.
- Yaniv Bazini leads Vermont with 12 total points with five goals and two assists. He is ranked second in the America East with .500 goals per game. Banzini is also tied for second in the conference with 1.20 points per game.
- Vermont leads the all-time series record 15-6-3. The two teams' most recent meeting was last season's conference opener on Sept. 24 when the Catamounts won 2-0. They were ranked No. 22 then as well.
- This will mark the fifth time that Binghamton and Vermont will square off on Homecoming Weekend – but the first time since 2012. That makes the Catamounts the most frequent Homecoming opponent. The final score of each match has been 1-0. The Bearcats won the 2008 and 2010 Homecoming games but the Catamounts were victorious in 2012 and 2014. In each of the Vermont wins, the winning goal came on a penalty kick in double overtime.
- This will mark the third time since 2017 that the Bearcats have faced a nationally-ranked team on Homecoming Weekend. The Bearcats tied then No. 17 UMBC 1-1 in 2017 but lost 4-1 to then fifth-ranked New Hampshire in 2021.
- The Catamounts are the fourth nationally-ranked opponent that the Bearcats will face this season. Binghamton met then top-ranked Syracuse on Aug. 28, No. 18 New Hampshire on Sept. 23 and No. 19 Hofstra on Sept. 26.
- The match against Vermont will mark the 999th match in the history of the Binghamton men's soccer program, which started in 1960. Game number 1,000 is slated for Tuesday night against Cornell.
- The Bearcats are 5-6-4 all-time on Homecoming Weekend at the Bearcats Sports Complex and are seeking their first win since beating Buffalo 3-0 in 2016. Last year, Binghamton and UAlbany played to a scoreless tie on Oct. 8.
