Slate includes six home meets at the Events Center

VESTAL, N.Y. -  The Binghamton wrestling team has announced its schedule for the 2023-24 season. The Bearcats will compete in a variety of competitions over the course of five months. This includes three consecutive weekends where Binghamton will host a meet at the Events Center. Admission for all home meets will be free of charge.

"I'm very excited about this year's schedule," said Binghamton Head Coach Kyle Borshoff. "We are going to do things a little bit differently. We are going to compete in more tournaments this year, as well as multiple back to back duals. I'm confident this schedule will allow us to perform our best at the EIWAs and the NCAA championships in March."

Binghamton will field a roster of 28 wrestlers, including 10 newcomers. During the 2022-23 season, the Bearcats sent junior Brevin Cassella and seniors Jacob Nolan and Cory Day to the NCAA Championships. Nolan won his first two consolation matches at that event.

The Bearcats begin their season on Friday, Nov. 17 at Journeymen Wrestling's Armbar at the Armory in Albany, N.Y. Also competing at that event will be No. 4 North Carolina State and Long Island University. NC State, who are the defending ACC champions, finished 10th as a team at the 2023 NCAA Championships. Later that same weekend, the Bearcats will travel down the Hudson River to West Point, N.Y., to compete in the Black Night Invitational. Eight other schools will compete at the invite, including defending national champion and preseason No. 1 Penn State.

To begin the month of December, the team will travel to Las Vegas to take part in the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Collegiate Wrestling Invitational from Dec. 1-2. 35 other schools will also participate in the invitational, including No. 2 Virginia Tech, No. 5 Nebraska, and No. 6 Arizona State. Binghamton's only other competition in December will be at the Wilkes Open in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., on Friday, Dec. 22.

To start the new year, the Bearcats will take part in the David H. Lehman '68 F&M Open at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pa., on Friday, Jan. 5. The week after that, the team will compete in its first dual meet against No. 25 Lehigh in Bethlehem, Pa., on Friday, Jan. 12.

The next day, the Bearcats will hold its first meet at home in the Events Center against Buffalo and Drexel. On Sunday, Jan. 21, Binghamton will welcome both Army and Navy to the Southern Tier. Lastly, the Bearcats will host Harvard and Brown on Saturday, Jan. 27.

Six days later, the team will take on Hofstra in Hempstead, N.Y., on Friday, Feb. 9. After that, the team will wrap up the weekend with a meet at No. 15 Princeton on Sunday, Feb. 11. After that, the Bearcats head to Evanston, Ill., to take on Big Ten opponent No. 19 Northwestern on Friday, Feb. 16. To wrap up the regular season, the Bearcats will travel up the road to Ithaca, N.Y., to go up against No. 2 Cornell on Sunday, Feb. 25.
