Men’s Soccer Heads to UMBC for AE Quarterfinals

STORY LINES

- Binghamton (4-9-3, 2-2-3 AE) returns to the America East Tournament for the second season in a row. The Bearcats advanced to the semifinal round last year. 

- Binghamton is 10-10-7 all-time in 15 previous trips to the America East Tournament, having won the title in 2003 and 2006. The Bearcats have also earned runner up honors in 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008 and 2015. 

- This marks the fifth meeting between Binghamton and UMBC in the America East Tournament and the second time in a row. Last year, the Bearcats took home a 3-2 overtime victory in the quarterfinals. The Bearcats lead the all-time postseason series against the Retrievers 3-1-0.

- UMBC (7-3-5, 3-1-3 AE) is making its third straight appearance in the America East Tournament.

- Binghamton tied the Retrievers 2-2 this past Tuesday. Redshirt senior midfielder Anthony Lazaridis and senior midfielder Markos Touroukis recorded unassisted goals to force the tie.

- Graduate student midfielder Jack Green leads Binghamton with 10 total points this season with three goals and four assists. He is ranked seventh in the America East with .250 assists per game. Lazaridis has seven total points this season with three goals and an assist.

- Taylor Calheira leads the Retrievers with 24 total points this season with ten goals and four assists. He is ranked second in the America East in both goals (.667 per game) and total points (1.60 per game). Alek Wroblewski has 14 total points and is ranked sixth in the conference in goals (.429 per game) and seventh in total points (1.00 per game).

- This marks the fourth time since joining the America East Conference in 2001 that Binghamton has faced the same team in the regular-season finale as well as in their first playoff match. In addition to last season against UMBC, Binghamton played back-to-back matches against Boston University in 2005 and New Hampshire in 2010.
