VESTAL, N.Y. – The Binghamton track & field teams travel to the America East Indoor Track & Field Championships, which will be held at the Track at New Balance in Boston. The two-day meet runs Saturday-Sunday, with start times of 10 a.m. both days.
This marks the first time that the conference meet will be held at the Track at New Balance, which opened in April 2022. The previous eight years, the Boston University Track & Tennis Center was the site of the event.
Binghamton heads into the meet with five defending conference champions. On the men's side are graduate student
Jake Restivo (long jump) and senior
Casey Gribben (pole vault). For the Bearcat women, there are graduate students
Aziza Chigatayeva (3,000) and
Stephanie Cassens (500) as well as junior
Jenna Chan (long jump).
Chan and Chigatayeva each earned weekly accolades from the America East during the regular season. Chigatayeva is the current Women's Track Athlete of the Week while Chan earned the same distinction back on Dec. 4. Junior pole vaulter
Brandon Love, meanwhile, is the current Men's Field Athlete of the Week.
At last year's meet, both the Bearcat men's and women's teams placed third overall out of nine competing teams. UMass Lowell won the men's competition while Albany captured the women's team crown.
