Men’s Lacrosse Falls to Lafayette, 10-4

Bearcats score three in the first period but stall

VESTAL, N.Y.- Binghamton men's lacrosse (2-1) fell in their home opener 10-4 against Lafayette (2-3). The Bearcats jumped out to a 3-1 lead after the first quarter with goals by redshirt junior Thomas Greenblatt, senior Nicholas Imburgia, and junior Ethan Insinga. Lafayette used a four goal run in the second quarter to take the 5-3 lead into the half.

"I thought we came out hot in the first and they settled in," head coach Kevin McKeown said, "winning groundballs and faceoffs allowed them to keep attacking."

Trailing 5-3 at the half, Lafayette started the third period with a man-up situation and the ball, capitalizing with a goal to push the lead to 6-3 early in the third period. To stop the run, with 13 minutes left in the third period, O'Hara found the back of the net off an assist by Insinga.

The Leopards would go on to score three straight in the third to push the lead to 9-4.

"I don't think we cleared the ball well in the third quarter and we didn't play much offense there," McKeown said. "I think we let it get away from ourselves there and put us in a hole going into the fourth."

Lafayette would go on to add one more goal in the fourth period to push the lead to 10-4.

Despite the loss, redshirt freshman Connor Winters finished the game with 16 saves. Senior Declan Ferris finished with two caused turnovers on the afternoon.

BU will be back in action on Saturday, Mar. 4 to host St. John's. The action will begin at noon.
