VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton women's lacrosse begins America East play with a showdown against UMBC on Saturday at noon. Binghamton produced one of the biggest wins in program history against Cornell in Ithaca on Wednesday. The Bearcats edged the Big Red in thrilling fashion, 13-12, behind a five goal performance from Abigail Carroll and hat tricks from Marisa Tancredi and Hayley Weltner. Both teams will start two goalies that are among the nation's best in saves.

• Binghamton is averaging just over 12 goals per game and just over five assists per game.

• Hayley Weltner has a team-high 44 draw controls and ranks third in the America East in draw controls and draw controls per game (4.89). Weltner is t-24th in the NCAA for draw controls.

• Emily Manning is second in the America East and is seventh in the NCAA with 77 saves. Manning is also second in the conference with 8.56 saves per game. Manning is 40th in the nation for saves per game.

Scouting the Retrievers

• UMBC has victories against George Washington, Bucknell, Mount St. Mary's (Md.), Robert Morris, Temple, and La Salle. They have one-point losses to American and Delaware. The Retrievers are currently riding a three-game win streak.

• Claire Bockstie is third in the America East with 30 goals and goals per game (3.25). Bockstie is tied for third in the America East with 15 assists. Lauren Cremen is sixth in the America East with 22 goals.

• Megan Halczuk leads the America East in draw controls with 73, which is 24 more than anyone else in the America East and the third highest total in the nation. 

• Isabella Fontana leads the America East with 78 saves, which is sixth in the nation. Fontana also leads the conference with 9.75 saves per game. 

Series History

• UMBC leads the all-time series, 16-3. Binghamton won the last meeting in Baltimore on April 6, 2022, 20-14. Tancredi had five goals, while Olivia Muscolino and Newman had four goals.
