One of five recipients for the Trina Mangano Scholarship

VESTAL, N.Y. – The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association announced that Binghamton women's lacrosse junior Sienna Fox was named as a recipient for the Trina Mangano Scholarship.

Fox was one of five recipients to be awarded the honor for her dedication to pursuing officiating opportunities in the sport. Fox has begun her officiating career by officiating club summer tournaments at the middle and high school levels.

"I am extremely grateful to receive this scholarship," Fox said. "It reflects my commitment to officiating and will allow me to grow and strengthen my officiating skills. Being an official gives me the opportunity to bring together both my love of playing and coaching while also allowing me to continue to give back to the sport that has shaped me into the athlete I am today. My hope is that when younger players see me on the field, they are inspired to stay involved with the game they love."

The Trina Mangano Scholarship honors the legacy of Trina Mangano, a nationally and internationally rated official whose impact on the game extended far beyond the field. Mangano played a key role in shaping the next generation of officials through her service on the US Lacrosse Training Committee, her work as a CWLOA trainer, and her position as the officials' assignor for IWLCA recruiting events. Mangano's passion for education and mentorship helped elevate the standard of officiating in women's lacrosse. The scholarship established in her honor recognizes individuals who demonstrate a commitment to pursuing officiating opportunities and supporting the continued growth of the game. Through these scholarships, the IWLCA honors Mangano's enduring legacy and unwavering commitment to growing women's lacrosse through the development, education, and support of officials.

"I am extremely proud of Sienna for being selected as a recipient of the Trina Mangano Scholarship," head coach Stephanie Allen stated. "Sienna reflects through her officiating what a positive environment should look like, which allows the players to love the game of lacrosse like she does. Sienna truly embodies that same spirit of commitment, passion, and service as Trina did. I look forward to supporting Sienna as she takes this next step in her officiating journey and continues to make an impact on our sport—even after she's hung up the cleats."
