Men’s lacrosse second half comeback falls short at Lehigh

Bearcats outscore Lehigh 7-1 in the second half

BETHLEHEM, PA.- Binghamton men's lacrosse (3-2) falls 14-13 on the road at Lehigh (4-1, 1-0 Patriot). Lehigh jumped out to a 7-1 lead in the first quarter, controlling possession and capitalizing off of man up opportunities.

In the second period, Lehigh struck first to make it 8-1, but BU responded with back to back goals by sophomore Gage Adams and redshirt junior Thomas Greenblatt to make the score 8-3. Later in the period, Adams, senior Nicholas Imburgia, and sophomore Matthew Keegan would all find the back of the net and send Binghamton into the half down, 13-6. Lehigh's Scott Cole led the Mountainhawks with six goals in the first half.

Going into the third period, the Bearcats would pick up the scoring even more, scoring four straight goals and holding Lehigh scoreless in the period. Adams would score twice with senior Quinn O'Hara and Keegan also finding the back of the net to cut the lead to 13-10.

"I thought we played really well offensively the entire game," said head coach Kevin McKeown. "Defensively, we switched to mostly zone in the second half."

In the fourth period, Cole would score for the Mountain Hawks lone goal of the half to make it 14-10. BU answered with three straight goals from Imburgia, Greenblatt and O'Hara to cut the lead to one with 3:42 left in the game.

With just three minutes left in the game Binghamton had a few chances to try and score but couldn't find the back of the net.

The Bearcats will be back in action on Saturday at Fairfield. The action will begin at 1 p.m.
