Lowell, Mass.- Binghamton men's lacrosse (7-2, 3-0 AE) improved to 3-0 on the season with a 21-10 win over UMass Lowell (0-8, 0-3 AE). The Bearcats recorded a program record 21 goals in the win. Over the first two periods, BU scored 11 straight goals, including seven in the first period to jump out to an early lead.
Sophomore Matthew Keegan and redshirt junior Thomas Greenblatt continued to lead the Bearcats offense in the performance. Keegan recorded a career-high 8 points (7G, 1A) and Greenblatt recorded a career-high 9 points (4G, 5A). In the second quarter, Greenblatt reached the 100 point mark in his Binghamton career with his second goal of the contest. BU would take a 12-4 lead into the half.
"I thought our offense shot the ball very well today," head coach Kevin McKeown said. "We had a little more patience in the second half against their zone."
In the third quarter BU would go on a six goal run with Keegan scoring three straight to cap off the run to push the lead to 19-6. The Bearcats would score two more goals in the fourth period to get 21. Junior Anthony Todaro scored his first goal of the season followed by junior Ross Chazanow with his second goal of the contest.
At the x, senior Matthew DeSouza won 13-17 faceoffs, adding 7 ground balls. Chazanow won 10-17 faceoffs and also secured 7 ground balls (2 goals).
In the net, redshirt freshman Connor Winters recorded 11 saves and freshman Owen Walker saw his first game action, recording two saves.
Today marks the one year anniversary of the passing of Robert Martin.
"I'm proud of how the guys have played all year," McKeown said. "We talk about playing the brand of lacrosse that Robert played: disciplined, selfless, and tough."
With the win, BU improves to 3-0 in America East play, their best start since the 2017 season. The team will return to Vestal and take on the defending America East champs, Vermont on Saturday, April 8 at 1 p.m.
