Men's Lacrosse hosts defending America East Champs Vermont

VESTAL, N.Y.- Binghamton men's lacrosse (7-2, 3-0 AE) hosts the defending America East champions Vermont (5-4, 3-0 AE) in a battle of two of the top teams in the conference. The BEarcats come into the contest winning its last four games and the Catamounts ride a three game winning streak. 

About Binghamton

  • The Bearcats are led offensively by redshirt junior Thomas Greenblatt and sophomore Matthew Keegan. Greenblatt leads BU in points (42), assists (25), and ranks 8th in the nation in assists per game (2.78). Keegan leads the team in goals (33) and ranks 6th in the country in goals per game (3.67)

  • At the x, senior Matthew DeSouza and junior Ross Chazanow continue to be one of the best duos in the America East. DeSouza ranks first in the nation in faceoff win percentage (.649), Chazanow ranks fifth in the America East with a .524 faceoff win percentage.

  • The trio of sophomore Gage Adams, junior Ethan Insinga, and senior Quinn O'Hara have all added to the Bearcats offense and pose additional threats on the attack. Adams has three games this season with 5+ goals, Insinga has four games with 3+ points, and O'Hara has scored in every game this season.

  • Redshirt freshman goalie Connor Winters holds a .548 save percentage (third best in the America East), 11.37 goals against average.

  • Through three conference games, BU leads the America East in man-up goals (7), second in goals per game (17.33) and tied for first in assists per game (10).

About Vermont

  • The Catamounts are led at the x by senior Tommy Burke. Burke ranks second in the country in faceoff win percentage (.645) and has been named America East Defensive Player of the Week twice this season. Burke has won 15+ faceoffs in six games this season and has won 18+ faceoffs in the last three games. 

  • Offensively, the Catamounts have a balanced attack led by senior Brock Haley. Haley leads the team in goals (20) and assists (16). Graduate student David Closterman is second on the team in goals (16) and assists (10). Freshman Charles Huntley and Carson Boyle each have 10 goals.

  • In conference play, Vermont ranks third in goals per game (14.33), tied for first in assists per game (10), first in faceoff win percentage (.718).

Series History

  • The series is locked even at 10. Last season, Vermont won 17-10. In the win, Burke won 21-27 faceoffs and the Catamounts outshot BU 47-23. Closterman finished with 6 points (2G, 4A), Haley finished with 5 points (2G, 3A). Greenblatt finished the game with 5 assists.
