Men’s Lacrosse Begins America East Tournament vs Bryant

VESTAL, N.Y.- Binghamton men's lacrosse (9-4, 5-2 AE) will begin the America East tournament against Bryant (10-4, 5-2 AE). BU will go into the tournament as the No. 3 seed after tying for second in the America East in the regular season. In their first matchup on April 22, Bryant was able to secure the win 14-10. The Bulldogs used a seven goal run over the second and third quarter to push their lead to 12-4.

About Binghamton

  • The Bearcats are led by redshirt junior midfielder Thomas Greenblatt and sophomore attackman Matthew Keegan. Greenblatt has recorded at least one point in every game this season, led BU and the America East in assists (33) and assists per game (2.54), ranking tenth in the nation. Keegan led the Bearcats and America East in goals (45) and points per game (4.38) this season, ranking T-7 in the nation in goals per game (3.46). 

  • In the first matchup, both Greenblatt and Keegan recorded 3 points, Greenblatt 1G, 2A , Keegan 2G, 1A.

  • Redshirt freshman goalie Connor Winters ranked second in the America East in saves percentage (.549) and third in saves per game (14.23). Nationally, Winters ranks eighth in saves percentage and fifth in saves per game; he is one of four goalies to rank in the top 10 in both categories. Winters recorded a program record 185 saves this season.

  • Senior faceoff specialist Matthew DeSouza has been strong all season. DeSouza has a .633 faceoff win percentage (career-high and program record) and leads the team with 75 groundballs.

  • In the first matchup, DeSouza won 9-14 faceoffs and secured four groundballs.

  • In the previous matchup against Bryant, junior Ethan Insinga led all BU scorers with 4 points (2G, 2A), senior Quinn O'Hara recorded 3 points (1G, 2A), and senior Niccholas Imburgia recorded two goals. 

About Bryant

  • Bryant is led by a pair of freshmen, Jack Lonsinger (39G) and Johnny Hackett (39G). Senior Kevin Groeninger leads the team with 60 points with 33 goals and 27 assists.

  • In the previous matchup, Johnny Hackett recorded six goals.

  • Junior midfielder Aidan Goltz is second on the team in points with 50 (36G, 14A)

  • Junior Nathan LaLiberte has won 167 faceoffs and has a .614 faceoff win percentage which ranks 12th in the country. Senior Jacob Alexander has won 76 faceoffs and has a .503 faceoff win percentage, fifth best in the America East.

  • In the previous matchup, LaLiberte found the back of the net twice and recorded an assist

  • Defensively, Bryant has three players with 15+ caused turnovers this season. Drew Lucas leads the team with 19, Tanner Alexander has 18, Zak Lanoue has 15.

  • Goalie Teagan Alexander has a .495 saves percentage and averages 11.36 saves per game. In the previous matchup, Alexander came up with 18 saves, tying a season high.
