Volleyball Concludes Play at Buffalo Invite

Dlouha earns All-Tournament honors

AMHERST, N.Y. - The Binghamton volleyball team (3-3) dropped its final match of the Buffalo Invite 3-0 (22-25, 19-25, 22-25) to the host University at Buffalo. The Bearcats finished the weekend 0-3 with losses to the University of Montana and DePaul University. 

Misa Dlouha was named to the All-Tournament team after she collected 21 kills, 14 blocks and three service aces. The first-year also recorded a hitting percentage of .299 across three matches. 

In this afternoon's contest, Ella Schabort posted a team-high nine kills while teammate Tsvetelina Ilieva tallied eight kills and seven digs. Libero Madison Konopka led the Bearcats from the back row with 10 digs. 

The first set was the most competitive between the two SUNY schools with nine tie scores and three lead changes. The Bearcats and the Bulls traded the lead until 13-13 where UB scored four straight to make the frame 17-13. Binghamton continued to chip away, bringing the point total to 22-21 in favor of the hosts before Buffalo closed out the set 25-22. 

Schabort made four of her kills in the first stanza while Ilieva grabbed four digs. 

The Bearcats led the second set early on, jumping out to an early 5-4 lead before UB posted four kills to make the frame 12-9. Buffalo added to their advantage, leading by as much as nine points at 23-14. Binghamton saved four set points before UB claimed the set 25-19.

The final set featured four tie scores and one lead change for the Bearcats. Dlouha led off the  frame with three straight service aces to give BU another early lead. Buffalo came back swinging with four kills to bring the score to 6-3. A kill from Dlouha tied the frame at 10 before UB took back their advantage. Binghamton came within two points of the lead at 22-20 until the Bulls won the set once again at 25-22. 

The Bearcats are back in action at home this Tuesday against LeMoyne College. Match time is slated for 7 p.m. inside the West Gym.
