Men’s Soccer Hosts NJIT

Bearcats and Highlanders Square Off Saturday at 6:07 p.m.

STORY LINES

- Binghamton (2-6-1, 0-0-1 AE) lost 1-0 at No. 19 Hofstra on Tuesday evening. Sophomore goalkeeper Jack Root – the current America East Defensive Player of the Week - made a pair of first-half saves. In two starts, Root has a 0.500 Goals Against Average (GAA).

- Graduate student midfielder Jack Green continues to lead the Bearcats with two goals, three assists and seven total points. He ranks fourth in the America East with 0.333 assists per game. Redshirt senior midfielder Anthony Lazaridis has also scored a pair of goals this season.

- NJIT (4-4-2, 1-0-0 AE) is coming off a 3-0 loss at Drexel on Tuesday night. In goal, Samuel Reisgys recorded four saves for the Highlanders.

- Hugo Tavares leads NJIT and is tied for second in the conference with four goals. Maximus Barbaro, meanwhile, leads the America East with eight assists.

- While the Bearcats tied No. 18 New Hampshire 0-0 in their conference opener last Saturday, NJIT defeated visiting UMass Lowell 4-1 that same night. Alvaro Heredia finished with a goal and an assist in the victory.

- NJIT, which joined the America East Conference in 2020, leads the all-time series 2-0-1. Last season, the two squads played to a scoreless tie in Newark on Oct. 1.

- In their previous two matches against Binghamton, the Highlanders came from behind to win. They won 3-2 in overtime on Senior Day at the Bearcats Sports Complex on Oct. 23, 2021 as well as 4-2 in Newark on March 23, 2021. Lazaridis scored both of the Binghamton goals in the Senior Day match.

- Binghamton has already faced three nationally-ranked teams so far this season. The Bearcats took on then top-ranked Syracuse on Aug. 28 in addition to their matches against New Hampshire and Hofstra.
