Volleyball Dealt Loss at Colgate

Four Bearcats post double-digit digs against Raiders

HAMILTON, N.Y. (binghamtonbearcats.com) - Binghamton Volleyball (12-9, 2-2) dropped a road match to Colgate (10-9, 7-1), 3-1, Wednesday night on Cotterell Court. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
Colgate recorded six straight points to earn an early advantage in the first set, 8-2. The Raiders added onto their lead before Binghamton went on a 10-2 run to tie it up at 20 apiece. The Bearcats tacked on three more to Colgate's two but the Raiders used three consecutive points to win the set, 25-23. 

Colgate continued its momentum in the second frame, outhitting the Binghamton .353-.171. The Raiders established an initial 3-0 lead the Bearcats would not overcome for the remainder of the stanza. Colgate registered six straight points to lead 21-13 before closing out the second set 25-18. 

Binghamton bounced back to take the third set 25-23, notching a match-best 17 kills in the frame. The Bearcats scored four consecutive to own a 11-6 edge until the Raiders went on a 8-1 run to retake the advantage 18-17. Binghamton responded by winning seven of the next nine points to lead 24-20. Colgate saved three set points before Binghamton claimed the set, 25-23. 

The Raiders finished off the Bearcats with a 25-21 fourth set victory. The Raiders registered a match-best .455 attack percentage in the stanza while posting 17 kills and digs. 

MATCH NOTES 
  • The Bearcats led the Raiders in service aces, 7-5, the 11th time this season Binghamton has led their opponents from the service line. 
  • Tsvetelina Ilieva matched her career-high with 28 kills for the second time this season vs. Colgate. The performance was her fourth straight and eighth this fall with 20 or more kills. With 10 digs, Ilieva also recorded sixth double-double of the year.
  • Lottie Scully posted her fourth double-double of the season with a team-best 45 assists and 14 digs. The performance was her fourth with 40 or more assists this fall. 
  • Emily Cronkhite and Ella Schabort also chipped in 13 and 11 digs, respectively. The mark was Cronkhite's third and Schabort's second consecutive match in double digits.
