Volleyball Hosts NJIT Sunday

Bearcats host Dig Pink match to raise breast cancer awareness

VESTAL, N.Y. (binghamtonbearcats.com) - Binghamton Volleyball (12-9, 2-2) hosts NJIT (5-17, 0-4) Sunday afternoon, Oct. 20, inside the Events Center. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m. 

The Bearcats host their Dig Pink match against the Highlanders to raise breast cancer awareness. More information on the initiative can be found here. The contest will be broadcast on ESPN+ and can be followed via live stats here at binghamtonbearcats.com. 

Last time out, Binghamton fell to Colgate, 3-1, on the road Wednesday night, Oct. 16. The Bearcats led the Raiders in service aces, 7-5, the 11th time this season Binghamton has led its opponents from the service line. 

Tsvetelina Ilieva matched her career-high with 28 kills for the second time this season vs. Colgate. The performance was her fourth straight and eighth this fall with 20 or more kills. With 10 digs against the Raiders, Ilieva also recorded her sixth double-double of the year. Lottie Scully posted her fourth double-double of the season with a team-best 45 assists and 14 digs. The performance was her fourth with 40 or more assists this fall. 

Ilieva earned her fourth America East Player of the Week honor this fall, the conference announced Tuesday morning, the ninth of her Bearcat career. The fifth-year senior averaged a league-best 5.8 kills per set in two matches for Binghamton last week. With 25 kills against New Hampshire, Ilieva tied for the most by any player nationally in a three set match this season. She also recorded a season-high six service aces against the Wildcats while chipping in 15 digs and five blocks across the two contests. 

As a team, Binghamton leads the America East with 17.01 points per set and a .251 attack percentage. The Bearcats also rank second in the league with 12.94 kills, 12.01 assists, 2.28 blocks and 1.79 service aces per set. 

Ilieva leads the conference with 4.85 kills per set and 5.58 points per set. She ranks first nationally with 435.5 total points and 378 total kills. Ilieva also sits second in the America East with .45 service aces per set. 

Misa Dlouha is second in the league with 1.24 blocks per set to rank eighth in the country with 97 total blocks. Lottie Scully's 8.13 assists per set also put her second in the America East.  

Binghamton leads the all-time series over NJIT, 7-2. The Bearcats have won the last six matches over the Highlanders including the last matchup, 3-0, in Vestal. 

Next up, the Bearcats head to UAlbany, Friday, Oct. 25. Match time is slated for 6 p.m.
