VESTAL, N.Y. – The Binghamton volleyball team (11-9, 2-4 America East) begins the final month of the regular season Sunday by facing Bryant (11-14, 5-2 America East) at 1 p.m., at Chace Athletics Center.
THE LAST TIME OUT ON THE COURT
Binghamton fell to Colgate in four sets last Wednesday, with the Raiders winning the non-conference match 25-8, 25-17, 21-25 and 25-19.
Magi Milicevic had 13 kills for the Bearcats, while
Regan Kadel added 26 assists. On defense,
Eve Roman also put up 11 digs, and
Sydney Geselbracht posted five blocks.
CAN YOU DIG IT?
Celeste Ocampo continues to establish herself as one of the top-performing liberos in the country. The sophomore ranks 10th in the nation in digs per set, averaging 4.96 per frame. Ocampo has recorded at least 26 digs in each of her last three matches, reaching that mark a total of five times this season.
THE BLOCK PARTY CONTINUES
Binghamton ranks 27th in the country as a team with an average of 2.60 blocks per set. Leading the Bearcats in blocks are both
Hannah Olmstead and
Francesca Pierdonati with 78.0 each so far this season.
Also, Binghamton leads the America East in blocking by its opponents. On average, the Bearcats only allow an average of 1.63 blocks by their opponent per set, the lowest average in the league.
SETTING THE TONE
Kadel has recorded at least 26 assists in each of her last five matches. Her average of 8.32 assists per set ranks third in the America East Conference. The junior has also put up at least 10 digs in four of her last seven contests.
MORE ON BRYANT
Bryant leads the all-time series against Binghamton 10-6. In the first meeting between the two programs in the West Gym on Oct. 3, Bryant took the match in five sets 25-21, 18-25, 25-23, 20-25, and 16-14.
The Bulldogs have won three of their six of their last nine matches going into Sunday's contest. In its last match, Bryant swept NJIT 3-0 on Friday.
Carrina Barron ranks third in the America East in digs per set with an average of 4.54. Against NJIT, Barron recorded a match-high 14 digs.
On offense, Brookelyn Talmadge and Layla Olatunde rank seventh and eighth in the America East respectively in hitting percentage. Talmadge has a hitting percentage of .284, while Olatunde's percentage is .247.
