VESTAL, N.Y. - After a two-goal performance in Binghamton's comeback win at UMBC, freshman forward
Jahkaya Davis has been named America East Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Monday morning.
Down 3-0 after seven minutes, Davis began Binghamton's unlikely rally with her first goal of the game in the 32nd minute. Still down 3-1 in the second half, Davis notched another in the 85th minute, sparking the Bearcats' closing run of three goals in 5:21. The flurry of goals resulted in a 4-3 Binghamton win - the team's first conference win of the season.
The weekly honor was the first for Davis, who ran her season goal total to four goals. She ranks first in the America East in scoring and points among rookies.Â
It's the fourth conference honor for the Bearcats this season. Davis joins classmate
Anna Buckwalter, who won ROW on Aug. 19 and Sept. 9 and senior
Mackenzie Ryder. who won Player of the Week on Sept. 16.
Binghamton next hosts Bryant Sunday afternoon at the Bearcats Sports Complex. Â
