BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Binghamton wrestling team competed in its first tournament of the season at the Journeymen Collegiate Classic Saturday at Freedom High School.

"Today's event was great," said Binghamton Wrestling Head Coach Kyle Borshoff. "We got to wrestle a lot of matches. I really enjoyed the round robin format. We had a lot of really nice wins today and wrestled tough."

Building off his win against No. 5 Edmond Ruth of Illinois on Saturday, Will Ebert picked up right where he left off with another ranked victory in his first match on Sunday. The Fairfield, Conn., native pinned No. 29 Nathan Haas of Cal Baptist 2:32 into their match. The win kick-started a day when Ebert was victorious in all three of his matches to improve his record to 4-0. Throughout all of his matches, Ebert only gave up one point to an opponent of his.

Ebert was one of three Bearcats to finish Sunday's event undefeated. Both Carter Baer and Jordan Brown also went 3-0 at the tournament. Those two each began the day with a technical fall, before following that up with two decisions.

"Overall, I think this weekend's effort was a great way to start the season for our team," said Borshoff. "We have a lot of positive things to build off of, and a lot of easy things to fix."
