VESTAL, N.Y. – While being split up into two separate locations, the Binghamton wrestling team found success at both tournaments it competed at on Sunday.

Six wrestlers won their bracket at Cornell's Big Red Invitational, with five of them going undefeated throughout the round robin tournament. Cory Day (3-0), Will Ebert (4-0), Trent Sibble (5-0), Caleb Sweet (5-0), and Jay McDonnell (3-0) finished the day with a perfect record, while Carson Wagner (4-1) also took first place in his bracket. Meanwhile, Carter Baer and Ivan Garcia reached the podium at Army's Black Knight Invitational, with both wrestlers finishing sixth. Binghamton ultimately finished eighth at the Black Knight Invitational, where there was no team scoring at the Big Red invite.

"We won a lot of matches today," said Binghamton Wrestling Head Coach Kyle Borshoff. "It was nice to see so many of our athletes competing. We have some areas that we need to improve on as a team, but I thought we made some nice adjustments from a couple of weeks ago."

Highlights
•    26 of Binghamton's wrestlers competed on Sunday, with 17 of them winning at least half of their matches.
•    Day, who finished among the nation's leaders in pins against Division I opponents in 2023-24 with 11, picked up his first two of the current season on Sunday. He first pinned Clarion's Austin Chapman in the opening round of the 285A bracket, and then defeated Cornell's Aiden Compton by fall.
•    In his first event since entering both the InterMat and FloWrestling polls, Will Ebert continued his stellar start to the season by winning all four of his matches at the Big Red Invitational. Ebert also pinned both Andrew Reall of Brown and Adrian Gacek of Clarion, putting him in a tie for the team lead in pins with three.
•    Also tied for the team lead in pins is Jack Kazalas. The freshman, who went 3-1 in his second collegiate tournament, secured another two pins. He pinned Sacred Heart's Anthony Samuels twice throughout the day.
•    Garcia won three matches at the Black Knight Invitational to reach the podium, while Baer won two in his first appearance since going 3-0 at the Journeymen Collegiate Classic.
•    Brevin Cassella, who went into the Big Red Invitational ranked 13th in the country, won his first three matches before losing a close battle with No. 11 Simon Ruiz of Cornell 5-3. Cassella's overall record for the year improved to 4-1.
